Current Situation

UPDATE 12/20/15 @ 3:10 p.m. - The hiker was air lifted by H901 to awaiting firefighters. He was then transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital with moderate injuries. All resources are clearing the scene.
UPDATE 12/20/15 @ 2:38 p.m. - H901 has landed. They will evaluate the hiker and fly him to where firefighters are standing by.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters along with the assistance of California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a hiker down in the hills near Coyote Song Way X 30th Street in Indio Hills. CHP's helicopter Air61 is overhead and has a visual on the hiker. Firefighters on the ground have made face to face with the hikers wife and confirmed his description. They are currently trying to access the hiker with the assistance of Air61 providing directions from the air. CAL FIRE Helicopter 901 (H901) is currently en route to the incident to assist with hoist capabilities if needed. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
