UPDATE 12/26/15 @ 1:30 p.m. - There were four vehicles involved and a total of fourteen patients. Two patients with moderate injuries, and five patients with minor injuries were transported by ground ambulance to area hospitals. The remaining seven patients were evaluated by paramedics on scene and declined transport. 
 
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to a report of a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on westbound Interstate 10 at Ford Dry Lake in Desert Center. The first arriving engine company reported forty to forty-five mile per hour winds, with wind and sand and declared the incident a mass casualty due to multiple patients. Five patients with minor injuries and two patients with moderate injuries were transported by ground ambulance to area hospitals. All fire resources have cleared the scene.
