UPDATE 5/2/17 @ 7:36 a.m. - The fire is 100% contained. Day assignment will consist of four crews, three engines, and four overhead personnel for a total of 75 firefighters.
UPDATE 5/1/17 @ 6:06 p.m. - The fire is now 90% contained to 1,350 acres, Firefighters have secured a patrol line around the fire. Unless any significant activity occurs, the next update will be tomorrow morning around 8:00 a.m.
UPDATE 5/1/17 @ 9:55 a.m. - The fire is now 75% contained and remains at 1,350 acres. Updated resources for day assignment are as follows: 30 engines, 8 crews, 1 helicopter, and 1 dozer for a total of 230 firefighters. The incident is no longer in unified command.
UPDATE 5/1/17 @ 7:30 a.m. - The fire remains at 1,350 acres and is now 60% contained. The structure threat has been mitigated. For day assignment we have 20 engines, 6 crews, 2 air tankers, 2 helicopters, and overhead personnel for a total of 150 firefighters.
UPDATE 5/1/17 @ 12:00 a.m. - The fire remains at 1,350 acres and 25% contained. The threat to homes has decreased from 40 homes threatened, down to 15 homes threatened. Unless any significant activity occurs, the next update will be around 8:00 a.m.
UPDATE 4/30/17 @ 9:50 p.m. - The fire is now 1,350 acres and 25% contained. Approximately 40 homes are threatened by the fire.
Update 7:20 p.m.: Fire is approximately 1200 acres and 15% contained with structures threatened.
UPDATE 4/30/17 @ 6:45 p.m. - There are drones flying in the area that are hampering fire suppression. "If you fly, we can't" please ground all drones immediately. UPDATE 4/30/17 @ 6:10 p.m. - The fire is 5% contained. UPDATE 4/30/17 @ 6:00 p.m. - The fire is now 300+ acres in size and remains at a rapid rate of spread, with moderate winds and a threat to radio towers on Box Springs Mountain.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a vegetation fire in a field near Opera Loop X East Palmyrita Avenue Highgrove. Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire approximately 30 acres in size. The fire is burning in light fuels at a rapid rate of spread. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
