Current Situation

UPDATE 10/5/17 @ 3:10 p.m. - A total of 22 people were evaluated. Three additional patients were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation, for a total of six. All students have been released to their parents/guardians and were allowed to go home. Riverside County Hazardous Materials Team made entry at Shadow Hills High School and were unable to locate a source. All readings done from their testing came back within normal limits. ** CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to a report of students feeling ill from an unusual odor at Shadow Hills High School in Indio. Firefighters are on scene of an unknown source, with a total of five patients. Riverside County Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Team is in route to the location. Shadow Hills High School has evacuated 1,900 students from the school. Shadow Hills High School's Police and Indio Police Department are transferring the evacuated students to Desert Ridge Academy Middle School, located at 79767 Avenue 39 in Indio.
