FINAL UPDATE 11/16/17 @ 8:00 p.m. - The fire is 100% contained to 40 acres. ** UPDATE 11/16/17 @ 7:56 a.m. - The fire remains at 40 acres and 80% contained, with extensive mop-up. ** UPDATE 11/15/17 @ 5:12 p.m. - The fire remains at 40 acres and 80% contained. Unless any significant incident activity occurs, the next update will be tomorrow morning. ** UPDATE 11/15/17 @ 11:42 a.m. - The fire remains at 40 acres and is 80% contained. ** UPDATE 11/15/17 @ 7:25 a.m. - The fire remains at 40 acres and is 40% contained. ** UPDATE 11/14/17 @ 9:38 p.m. - The fire remains at 40 acres and is 35% contained. Unless any significant incident activity occurs, the next update will be tomorrow morning. ** UPDATE 11/14/17 @ 7:15 p.m. - The cause of the fire has been determined to be from a vehicle malfunction. The fire remains at 40 acres and 0% contained. ** UPDATE 11/14/17 @ 6:15 p.m. - The fire is now 40 acres and 0% contained. ** UPDATE 11/14/17 @ 5:45 p.m. - Additional ground resources have been requested to the incident. Southern California Edison has been requested for several power poles involved within the fire. ** CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to multiple reports of a vegetation fire in the area of Palm Drive X 20th Avenue in Desert Hot Springs. The first arriving engine company reported approximately ten acres of heavy brush on fire with heavy winds. The fire is approximately 15 acres, with portions of the fire spotting outside the fire line. Desert Hot Springs Police Department is on scene assisting in traffic control. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
