Cause: Evacuation Comments: UPDATE 12/7/17 @ 8:07 p.m. -MURRIETA FIRE DEPARTMENT IS NOW HANDLING ALL UPDATES. THE MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC ARE URGED TO CALL THE CITY OF MURRIETA EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER AT (951) 696-3615 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. The fire is 300 acres and 10% contained. One structure and one outbuilding were destroyed. Evacuations are now lifted for all residents with the EXCEPTION of residents bordering: Los Alamos Road between Ruth Ellen & Briggs Road, Maclean & Golden Eagle. Southern California Edison is currently working to restore power to approximately 50 customers. Estimated restore time is 0600 hours. Murrieta Mesa High School will remain open as a care and reception center. Great Oak High School is now closed. Animal Shelter information remains the same.

Update 6:45 p.m.: Fire is now 10% contained. No change in acreage, pending mapping.

UPDATE 12/7/17 @ 4:25 p.m. - The fire is 300 acres and 5% contained. One structure was destroyed by the fire. ** UPDATE 12/7/17 @ 3:24 p.m. - The fire is 220 acres and 0% contained. ** UPDATE 12/7/17 @ 2:48 p.m. - An EVACUATION ORDER is in place for the following streets: Los Alamos Road Liberty Road Mary Place Via Mira Mosa Madelda Lane Skipper Road Ernest Way Mesa Avenue A care and reception center has been established at Great Oak High School: 32555 Deer Hollow Way Temecula, CA 92592 and at Mesa High School: 24801 Monroe Street Murrieta, CA 92562. ** UPDATE 12/7/17 @ 2:22 p.m. - The fire is now 100 acres. Updates will continue to be posted as inofmration becomes available. ** CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters; with he assistance of Murrieta City Firefighters; responded to reports of a vegetation fire in the area of Los Alamos Road X Liberty Road, in the unincorporated County area of Murrieta. The fire is 20 acres, burning at a moderate to rapid rate of spread in heavy fuels. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
