Current Situation

UPDATE 1/9/18 @ 9:39 p.m. - All three victims declined transport. All fire personnel are available. ** UPDATE 1/9/18 @ 9:11 p.m. - All three victims have been extracted from the island and are back on the shore. They are being evaluated by paramedics. Both water rescue boats are out of the water. Helicopter Air1 has cleared the scene. ** CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a person yelling for help in the Santa Ana Riverbed near Limonite Avenue X Dodd Street in Jurupa Valley. Firefighters arrived on scene and tied in with Riverside County Sheriff Deputies. Firefighters located one victim on an island, approximately 150 feet off the shore. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department's Swift Water Rescue Team, consisting of four crew members and an inflatable boat, attempted to make contact with the victim. Firefighters were able to establish positive contact with the victim and discovered there were two additional victims for a total of three. Rescue efforts will require two trips with the inflatable boat to extract all three victims. Riverside City Police Department's helicopter Air1 has been requested to the incident to assist with lighting. Three ground ambulances have been requested to the incident as a precaution. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
