Current Situation

UPDATE 5-15-18 @ 11:55 a.m. - The bee swarm has been mitigated to the Vector Control's satisfaction. All fire personnel have cleared the scene. ** UPDATE 5-15-18 @ 10:34 a.m. - Vector Control is on scene and attempting to locate the bee hive. Firefighters will remain on scene to assist if needed. ** CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to a report of a bee swarm with four victims at the 200 block of Strada Nova in Palm Desert. Firefighters arrived on scene with multiple bees in the area. Two victims were able to safely reach a CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department Medic Unit. The third victim was able to shelter in their residence. All three victims were evaluated by paramedics and declined further treatment. Firefighters located and extricated the fourth victim from an outside pool. The fourth victim was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital in critical condition. Vector control has been requested and is responding to the incident. An incident command post has been established off Via Tramanto and a Public Information Officer is en route. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
