UPDATE 9/5/18 @ 4:00 p.m. - A 1/2 inch gas line was ruptured by a shovel from a construction work. A total of six people from two homes; not six homes; were temporarily displaced. The gas leak has been mitigated and the residents have returned home. All fire personnel have cleared the scene.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a ruptured high pressure gas line at the 78000 block of Talking Rock Turn in La Quinta. Firefighters arrived on scene and reported an unknown size gas line hit by construction workers. Approximately six homes in the area have been evacuated. Southern California Gas Company has been requested to the incident. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
