Current Situation

UPDATE 5/31/19 @ 9:00 pm - The 66 Fire has been transitioned to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.  All further inquiries will be handled by the BIA. 
UPDATE 5/31/19 @ 2:00 pm - After better mapping the fire is at 51 acres and 75% comtainment.
UPDATE 5/30/19 @ 8:15 p.m. - The fire is 70 acres and 75% contained.  The forward progress has been stopped and fire personnel will be working on overhaul throughout the night. 
<DIV>UPDATE 5/30/19 @ 4:00 p.m. - Avenue 66 remains closed between Filmore St. and Tyler Street. Tyler Street is now closed from Avenue 66 to Avenue 62. A Field PIO is on scene of the incident.
UPDATE 5/30/19 @ 3:30 p.m. - The fire is now 70 acres.
UPDATE 5/30/19 @ 3:00 p.m. - The fire has spread an addtional 30 acres beyond the original containment. 1 Dozer and 10 additional Engines requested. CAL FIRE/ Riverside County Fire is now in Unified Command with Bureau of Indian Affairs.
UPDATE 5/30/19 @ 7:10 a.m. - The fire is 60% contained and holding at 10 acres.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a vegetation fire at the 87000 block of Avenue 66 in Thermal. The first arriving engine company reported a large mulch pile burning, approximately five acres in size. Firefighters remained on scene throughout the night. The fire is holding at 10 acres. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
