UPDATE 6/14/19 @ 11:15 p.m. - Burrtec excavators are working on dispersing piles of the debris and are making good progress with the firefighters on scene. Resources will remain committed for approximately two hours.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters, with assistance from Cathedral City FD, responded to a reported fire at Burrtec Edom Hill Transfer Station. Located at the 70000 block of Edom Hill Road in Desert Hot Springs. The first arriving engine company reported a large two-story commercial building with heavy smoke showing. Upon further investigation firefighters located an approximately 150-200 feet wide, by 20 feet tall, pile of debris on fire. Resources will remain on scene for approximately three hours. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
