UPDATE @ 10:09 am - 172 customers are without power. On going damage assessment will continue throughout the day.
UPDATE @ 10:50 pm - At this time 848 customers are left without power.
UPDATE @ 10:15 pm - The incident is being handled under unified command between CAL FIRE/ Riverside County Fire Department, Imperial Irrigation District, California Highway Patrol and the Riverside County Emergency Management Department. The damage assessment is still on going. Currently 1097 energy customers are currently without power.
UPDATE @ 9:45 pm - IID officials state that 1016 residential properties are currently affected including significant damage to 30 metal and wooden power poles. A local cooling center and shelter has been set up at the Galilee Center and further damage assessments are scheduled to take place in the morning. UPDATE @ 7:15 pm - Wide Spread power outages are affecting the communities of North Shore, Mecca, Oasis and Thermal. It is unknown at this time the number of people affected by this outage. Imperial Irrigation District is on scene. An Incident command post has been established at Galilee Center, 66101 Hammond Rd, Mecca, CA 92254. A Public Information Officer is en route to this location for media inquiries.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of multiple power poles and power lines down. Upon arrival, two locations were identified to have damaged and downed power poles and power lines. The first location is on Tyler Street between Avenue 62 and Avenue 66 and the second near Avenue 64 and Jackson Street. At this time it is unknown how many residents are affected by power outage. There are no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians at this time. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
