Update 5:30 P.M. Total acres burned, 18. The cause of the fire was determined to be a vehicle fire that got into the vegetation. No injuries reported.
<div> Update 2:13 P.M. - Fire is approximately 15 acres. Air and ground resources continue work to fully contain the fire.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a wildland fire near the intersection of Winchester d and Scott/Washington Rd in Winchester. The fire is approximately 6-8 acres burning in grasses. Murrieta Fire and Rescue and Hemet FD assisting. CHP is closing Hwy 79 in the fire area. Check the CHP website at for closure updates.
