Evening Update 4:55 P.M. The fire remains 26 acres and is now 75% contained. Resources will remain on scene as they strengthen containment lines to fully control the fire. Next update tomorrow morning, 11/10/2020.

Update 11/09/2020 8:00 a.m. - The fire remains 26 acres and is now 50% contained. Resources remain on scene as they work to fully contain the fire.

****UPDATE 11/08/2020 9:00 p.m. ALL EVACUATION ORDERS LIFTED**** Residents should use caution when driving in the fire area and yield to emergency personnel and equipment working in the area ****

***** 11/08/2020 Update 8:40 P.M. - The fire is approximately 26 acres and 0% contained. Large mulch piles, grasses and a vehicle storage area are involved. Mutual aid by Morongo FD, Palm Springs FD, Idyllwild FPD, Soboba FD, Calimesa FD, Hemet FD, March Air Reserve Base FD and Riverside City FD. Resources will remain at the scene for an extended period of time as they work in gusty wind conditions (15 mph, gusting to 35 mph) to contain the fire. This is the final update for the evening unless significant activity overnight prompts additional updates. Next update will be tomorrow morning. *******

Update 6:00 P.M. - Firefight continues. All resources will remain on scene throughout the night with a day assignment scheduled for tomorrow. Strong, gusty winds continue to challenge containment efforts. Two firefighters are being evaluated or non-life threatening injuries. Evacuation Orders of the affected area remain in place. Updates will continue to be posted as information becomes available or in the event of significant activity overnight.

 

Update 12:40 P.M. - No change in size, evacuation orders are still place. Resources will be committed for an extended period of time. No injuries reported. Update 11:20 A.M. - The fire is approximately eight acres consisting of several mulch piles, vegetation and vehicles in a salvage yard. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of several large mulch piles on fire in the County area of Palm Springs. This is a wind-driven fire with several mulch piles and vegetation involved. RSO, BLM, Palm Springs FD, Soboba FD, Riverside City FD, Morongo FD, Calimesa FD and Hemet FD are assisting. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. Information Officer responding to the incident.
