UPDATE 8/26/2021 9:15 P.M.: The fire remains 160 acres and is now 90% contained.
UPDATE 8/26/2021, 8:00 A.M.: The fire remains at 160 acres and is now 60% contained. Crews will continue to work on improving control lines.
UPDATE 08/25-2021 8:00 P.M.: The fire is 160 acres and 10 percent contained. The next update will be tomorrow morning unless significant fire activity occurs.
UPDATE 08/25/2021 5:40 PM: All EVACUATION WARNINGS are lifted. Residents may return home, but do so safely and yield to public safety personnel and equipment working in the area.
update 5:35 PM - The fire remains 200 acres and is now 10% contained and forward spread is stopped. Evacuation Warnings remain in place as firefighters work to fully contain the fire.
UPDATE 4:50 PM - One firefighter was transported to an area hspital for treatment of minor injuries.
UPDATE 4:05 P.M. - The fire is now approximately 200 acres with 0% containment. An EVACUATION WARNING in effect for residents East of San Gorgonio, North of Hwy 243, South of Charles Street and West of South Hathaway Street.
UPDATE 3:20 PM - Highway 243 is closed in both directions between Twin Pines and Old Banning/Idyllwild Road.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a wildland fire near the 100 Block of West Westward Avenue in Banning. The fire is currently 20 acres in size. Banning High School and the KOA Campground have been evacuated. West Westward Drive is closed between 12th Street and San Gorgonio. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
