Muster in Cabazon
Students
at the Cabazon Elementary School celebrated the end of another successful year
of partnership with Riverside County Firefighters in the Firefighters As Role
Models (FARM) program.
Throughout
the school year, Firefighters go into the classroom once a month for an hour to
help the teacher with curriculum such as reading, math, and social studies. They
also teach fire service related subjects like use of equipment and first aid. In
addition, the FARM students go on field trips with Firefighters, including a
cooking program at Station 24.
Cabazon
Fire Station #24 and the Cabazon Elementary School held their 4th
Annual Muster on Tuesday June 8, 2004 at the Cabazon Park. Activities included
water-ball and a bucket brigade. The muster winners received trophies, and
drawings were conducted that provided prizes for every child in school. The
prizes are donations from the community and included backpacks, CDs, DVDs, hats,
watches, and stuffed animals. The large prizes, two bicycles and helmets for
every class in the school, were purchased with donations from the Morongo Casino
and the Cabazon Outlet Mall.
Engineer
Dave Parker, and the Firefighters from Cabazon Fire Station #24, have
invested an amazing amount of time and engery into the FARM program. Their
efforts have positively impacted the lives of hundreds of children in
Cabazon.
