Emergency Command Center
The Perris ECC is a combined County, State, and local agency dispatch center.
The facility is responsible for alerting and handling incidents over a 7,200 square mile
area.
Communications/Technology Division
The Communications/Technology staff is responsible for meeting the computer hardware
and software, GIS, network, telecommunication, and web needs for the department.
Fleet Services
Two automotive shops repair and maintain a large fleet of emergency
response apparatus.
Operations
Fire Control
CDF/Riverside County Fire Department responds to a variety of fires throughout the County
including structure fires, vegetation fires, and improvement fires.
Volunteers
Over 1,000 people throughout Riverside County serve their communities by working as
volunteer firefighters.
Fire Protection Planning
Fire protection specialists review plans for all new developments, commercial and
industrial buildings located within the contract cities, and the unincorporated areas of Riverside
County. Requirements are established for such developments to provide a high degree of life safety
and property protection. Common requirements include the installation of fire hydrants, sprinkler
systems, early warning fire detection systems, and fire safety zones in remote areas
Air Attack Program
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection operates a joint
Air Attack/Helitack base
at the Hemet/Ryan Airport. Hemet Air Attack Base is statistically one of the most
active in the nation, deploying two S2T air tankers, an OV-10 air coordination aircraft and one
UH-1H "Super Huey" helicopter.
Hazardous Materials
CDF/Riverside County Fire Department has two Type 1 HazMat teams located in
Winchester and Bermuda Dunes.
Office of Emergency Services
The Riverside County Office of Emergency Services handle disaster planning and
recovery. The OES staff also handles ICS training for County Departments and cities that
are under contract.
Fire Prevention - Law Enforcement
Fire investigations are conducted by members of the Fire Prevention Bureau, along
with a special arson investigation unit. The object of the investigation is to determine the exact
cause of a fire. If the cause is "arson", the objective would be the arrest and prosecution of the
guilty person(s).
Training Bureau
An aggressive training staff covering all aspects of fire and emergency service
education, is available to both paid and volunteer personnel.
Emergency Medical Services
A fire engine and a paramedic ambulance are dispatched to all medical
emergencies in Riverside County and its contract cities. In some areas, firefighter paramedics are
assigned to squads or fire engines.
Health and Safety
The Health and Safety staff work to reduce injuries and accidents though a
comprehensive Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
Video Production The video production staff shoot, edit, and distribute training and education videos for
department personnel.

Public Affairs The Public Affairs Bureau provides information about the CDF/Riverside County Fire
Department and emergency incidents.
