This position is
involved in overall planning, programming, organizing and managing the operational aspects of the
Special Operations functions of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The Deputy Chief provides supervision and direction
for three Division Chiefs and one Forester II.
The
Deputy Chief coordinates the development of disaster response plans for all cities in the County of
Riverside. Coordinates multi-jurisdictional disaster drills. This position is responsible for the
delivery and coordination of all mandated, required and discretionary
training
for State, County and
volunteer
employees. The Special Operations Deputy Chief also makes recommendations for operational
policies for the fire department's emergency responders.
Area
of responsibilty include: the Safety Officer who is responsible for the unit’s Health and
Safety, Paramedic and
Video Production. Develops automatic response plans
for specialized resources with other fire jurisdictions. Is responsible for planning programming
and coordination with other governmental agencies, e.g., U. S. Forest Service, Bureau of Indian
Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Office of Emergency Services, and many other county agencies
and departments.
