“Fire Department Emergency!”

One of the most challenging jobs within the Riverside County Fire Department is that of a Fire Dispatcher!   Dispatchers work at a fast pace, under constant pressure.   Dispatchers must multi-task – often listening/interrogating a caller, typing 911 information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) terminal and monitoring/responding to radio traffic at the same time.

Riverside County Fire Department is seeking individuals who possess:
  • Willingness to work any shift assignment; work holidays, weekends and overtime as required (Public Safety Communications Officers work three 12-hours shifts one week and four 12-hour shifts the next week)
  • The ability to handle a high volume of emergency calls with tact, good judgment, initiative and speed
  • The ability to remain alert, responsible, diligent, thorough and who can speak clearly and concisely
  • The ability to exercise good judgment under demanding circumstances while maintaining a professional demeanor

Public Safety Communications Officer I                $16.39 - $23.12 Hourly
Public Safety Communications Officer II               $18.77 - $26.48 Hourly
