One of the most challenging jobs within the Riverside County Fire
Department is that of a Fire Dispatcher! Dispatchers work at a fast pace and are under
constant pressure. Dispatchers must multi-task – often listening/interrogating a caller,
typing 911 information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) terminal and monitoring/responding to
radio traffic at the same time.
Riverside County Fire Department is seeking individuals who
possess:

Willingness to work any shift assignment; work
holidays, weekends and overtime as required (Public
Safety Communications Officers work four 10-hour shifts a week)

The ability to handle a high volume of
emergency calls with tact, good judgment, initiative and speed

The ability to remain alert, responsible,
diligent, thorough and who can speak clearly and concisely

The ability to exercise good judgment under
demanding circumstances while maintaining a professional demeanor
Salary Information

Public
Safety Communications Officer I
$2,911.34 - $4,333.00 Monthly
Public Safety Communications Officer
II $3,334.47 - $4,962.97 Monthly
Senior Public Safety Communications Officer $3,671.06 - $5,321.84
Monthly
New Public Safety Communications Officers are responsible for paying
their portion of the PERS safety retirement (9%) for the first five (5) years of employment.
