The
California Wildland Firefighter Memorial will be a unique monument honoring all
California wildland firefighters, dozer operators, fire crews, lost in the line of duty. This
memorial will also serve as replacement memorial for the vandalized Decker Fire Memorial where 7
local firefighters died in 1959.
The official ground breaking ceremony was held October 10, 1996. The
second phase was the dedication of State Highway 74 as the California Wildland Firefighters
Memorial Highway from Grand Avenue in Lake Elsinore to San Juan Capistrano in the spring of
1997. The ultimate goal of the partnership is completion and unveiling of the Memorial in
2009.
The project estimated to cost $150,000 which will be paid through donations,
contributions, and service partnerships. To make this dream a reality we need your help.
The California Wildland Firefighter Memorial partnership is a non-profit organization and all
donations are tax deductible. To make a donation click
