Current Situation

[UPDATE 9/9/25 7AM]: As of 5:51 a.m., the Pyrite Fire has been declared 100% contained at 551 acres. All firefighting resources have been released from the incident.

[UPDATE 9/8/25 7PM]: The Pyrite Fire remains 551 acres and is now 95% contained. Today, firefighting efforts focused on mop-up operations, finalizing containment lines and pulling hose. With containment objectives nearly met, crews have begun the process of demobilizing resources.

[UPDATE 9/8/25 9:30AM]: Firefighters made great progress overnight and the fire is 64% contained. Crews continue mopping up, patrolling for hot spots and removing hose lays.  

[UPDATE 9/7/25 6:00PM]: Firefighters worked in favorable conditions today and were able to get containment to 48%. The fire is 551 acres. Firefighters will remain on the line through the night continuing to build containment lines.

[UPDATE 9/7/25 8:00AM]: Firefighters worked throughout the night and made good progress. The fire is now 20% contained. Fire resources will remain on-scene today building containment lines and patrolling for hot spots. The evacuation WARNINGS remain in place.

[UPDATE 9/6/25 7:40PM] The fire has burned 521 acres and is 10% contained. Firefighters will remain on scene overnight, strengthening containment lines and patrolling the fire perimeter. Evacuation WARNINGS remain in effect. No injuries have been reported.

[UPDATE 9/6/25 10:00AM] Evacuation ORDERS for the following zones have been DOWNGRADED to WARNINGS: JUR-0017 JUR-0018 JUR-0019 JUR-0031

The Evacuation WARNINGS have been lifted and return to normal status for the following zones: JUR-0034 JUR-0036 JUR-0020

A lane closure is in effect for the #2 Southbound lane on Sierra Avenue to allow access for fire resources and equipment. Please use caution when re-entering the area, as crews and heavy equipment remain active.

**[UPDATE 9/6/25 8:45AM] The fire is now 15% contained at 425 acres; firefighters made strong progress overnight, with hand crews cutting line around the fire perimeter and continuing today to strengthen containment lines. Evacuation ORDERS and WARNINGS remain in place, and residents are urged to stay alert and follow official instructions. No injuries have been reported.

[UPDATE 11:30 PM]: The fire has currently burned 400 acres and is now 5% contained.

[UPDATE 8:23PM]: The fire is 200 acres and 0% contained.

[UPDATE 6:45PM]: The fire has been mapped at 140 acres.

Firefighters are on-scene of a 15 acre vegetation fire burning in light flashy fuels. Additional air and ground resources responding.
